Welcome to the Selina Louise Suite.

This is a special feature on the self-guided audio tour, just for those guests who are in the Selina Louise Suite and can’t get enough local history.

The Selina Louise Suite was Mrs. Cotton’s original bedroom, which included a bathroom, one of five original to the house. To the east and adjacent to this suite was Mr. Cotton’s room, and originally there was also a third room between these two primary rooms called an antechamber.

This third room was shared space between the two primary bedrooms and was a common design prominent in homes of that era. It was often a dressing or sitting room that provided a semi-private space before retiring to their respective bedrooms.

The door from this suite to the antechamber was removed, and this third room was incorporated into Mr. Cotton’s bedroom to create a classroom in the 1940s period of Cotton Mansion’s history as part of the university.
